So it was time for the first ever design battle in Vulkan League history!
What is the Vulkan League you say? Or didn´t you say that?
Anyways, it ´s a community of creative students striving to become the best in spontaneous design. We invite all schools in the Vulkan area to compete against each other in an exciting head-to-head battle. In true improv style, the “audience” can help with suggestions for the designers, as well as deciding the winning team.
The eve of battle was upon us.. I have to admit, I was really excited..and a little nervous. It seemed like we managed to create some sort of buzz around the event. We used 360 degrees marketing.. or atleast 345 degrees.. Facebook, word of mouth and posters. Also, we had an animated ad running on the screens by the reception.
For this demo event, we chose a “Live trace” style of competition.
The two teams will compete against each other simultaneously. Each team has two players: one who draws on a whiteboard, and one who draws digitally on their Mac, through a projector. The two work together as a team to create one finished work.
Luckily, people showed. It seemed like they liked it! Several teachers told me they themselves did..and so did the teachers we invited to join the demo version of our project. My Dear thanks to Yann and Liv. GREAT sports! They both did an excellent job! Yann was the winner at last though. Also thanks to my teammate Aleks for helping to bring home the victory, as well as Eirik from the AD team.
We also got a well known DJ to compile the Spotify playlist for us. Nothing was left to chance

..and here´s the playlist: http://open.spotify.com/user/djchali/playlist/1Bc1iC0g4YUvJeQeD7HIjH
It definitely help to set the mood..the white whine helped as well!
The concept worked. Hopefully this will be the first of many, and we can get other people on board as well, with input and ideas.
